Arthur Murray Coquitlam Newsletter - Autumn 2007 - November - 01 - 2007

Hello Everyone!

The Fall season is here in full swing and it's time to email all of you with the details for the upcoming Festival, etc.

As you must know this coming weekend is our:

MEDAL BALL

Sunday, November 04 at the Hotel Vancouver in the Pacific Ballroom, located at the corner of Robson and Georgia in downtown Vancouver.

This year is set to start with the first group heat at 10am. Talk to your teacher about what time you should meet for practice in the morning, remembering that we should be finished our practice by 9:30.

We have 7 tables of participants for the evening and dinner choices have been secured with the hotel.

REMEMBER TO CHEER LOUDLY!  We do have to uphold the reputation as the rowdy gang from Coquitlam. ;)   Besides, everyone dances a bit better with some support to rev them up.

There will be a blue sheet checklist you should get from your teacher this week to make sure that you haven't forgotten anything.

Festival for FALL 2007

Directly after the Medal Ball the Fall Festival is set to start at Arthur Murray.  We try to pack in as many opportunities as we can so everyone can be involved--we know that no-one will be able to attend absolutely everything.

As before, there are theme parties, special group classes and an out of studio dance night.

Remember that costumes for the theme parties are a fun way to get involved but they are not mandatory, you can always just come as yourself ready to laugh, have fun and cheer on the performers.  There is always lots of general dancing involved.

Here are the details (also listed on the calendar of events page):

Festival Kickoff  - November 9

Commercials for the theme parties and events... come on this night to see what's in store over the coming weeks.

The Best of the 80's - November 16

...Or perhaps the worst depending on how you look at it.  Lots of music to play for this one.

Rock bands with big hair, rugby pants, Flashdance leg warmers, skinny leather ties, spiky short Annie Lennox hair and M.C. Hammer pants.  You forgot about most of those didn't you?

 Medieval Theme - November 30

King Arthur (Murray).   Sir Dance-a-lot.  Come out to the dance castle for fun and merriment.

Perhaps we will see a damsel in distress, a knight in shining armour, invading Vikings or the odd serf or wench.   Hmmm.... how to fashion a 'rack' for the studio - spanish inquisition anyone?

 Tropical Theme - December 14

What relief.  Just when the winter is setting it's icy grip on you, out comes the speedo for the Tropical Party---OK, well, maybe not, or should I say, Definitely Not.

There will, however, be lots of latin, fun upbeat music to dance to and a fun show guaranteed to be a hit (already in the works).

Christmas Party - December 21

Come full of Christmas Cheer and love and happiness for your fellow dancers!

Lots of food, dancing and merry-making.  A fun show with surprise guests slated.

Fesitival Group Classes -- Open to all festival sponsors...

...going where no regular group class will go.

Saturdays at 6:00 pm:

November 17

December 1

December 8

December 15

Festival Dinner Dance - Thursday, December 6

We will be going out on the town that night to a local dinner/dance venue and all the festival sponsors are welcome to attend.

Sure to be a fun night of dancing outside the studio to a live band for our advanced students

Visiting Coaches

We have arranged for two visiting coaches to visit our school with their expertise during the coming weeks.  They are both available for private coaching lessons on the days that they are here.

Susan Mitsui (Luu) - Saturday, November 24 - Please note that Susan will be doing a workshop that day which is not included in the festival sponsorhip.  Time TBA.

Juan de Dios Garcia - Tuesday, December 11 - (no workshop this time)

 In conclusion

A big Thankyou to everyone for your continued support of the studio, not the least of which at our recent guest party we held on October 20.  We always appreciate the guests you bring to see the studio and what wonderful hosts you all are :)  Keep us informed as to when you might like the next one to be.  When the demand gets enough we will be certain to slate one in when you can make it.

The recent Halloween party was a hoot as well and you can check out all the pictures of the fun costumes.

Well, this fall/winter looks like a fun, action packed season again and I hope you will make an effort to attend as much as you can.
