Arthur Murray Coquitlam Newsletter Winter 2006 - November - 01 - 2006
Hi again everyone,
It's the perfect time to be starting a winter newsletter with the
weather turning to the deep cold, it definitely has that winter feeling
now for sure.
We have also just finalized all of our winter activities for the studio
so there are lots of things for you to know about. Most of the
activities have to do with our Fall Festival .
First of all I should remind you that we have theAutumn Guest Partycoming up this weekend on Saturday, Nov. 4. Make sure that if you know someone interested that you bring them in to see the studio.
Workshop with LOLA VALAIR
Saturday, Dec.9
Once again we have a great opportunity to have Lola Valair, one of Arthur Murray's
most popular traveling consultants, in our school to give a Saturday
workshop. Previous workshops have been immensely popular with all participants so we hope you can attend.
There are also a limited number of private coaching lessons available
but these will fill up quickly. Ask your teacher if it might be
appropriate for you to attend the workshop or work directly with Lola.
Fall Festival Events for 2006:
Festival is a six week period when we plan a tremendous
number of activities so that everyone will be able to participate in a
good portion of what is going on.
Festival is run as a non-profit service for our student body providing
a chance to socialize together and participate in fun shows and social
dance events in order to expand everyone's dance skills in new and
interesting ways.
Through participation in Festival you will find our true school spirit.
Here are some of the activities that we have planned for this fall... Theme Parties:
The
theme parties are a chance to let loose and have fun with your dancing
through participating in the general dancing, dressing up or through
formations and performing in the theme party shows. This year the theme
parties will be on
Friday, November 17 (Garden Party)
Friday, November 24 (Wild West Party)
Friday, December 15 (Prom Night)
Friday, December 22 (Christmas/Anniversary Party)
Check the calendar for details or ask your teacher if you don't understand what the theme is about.
Special Group Classes:
The
special festival sponsors' group classes are designed to add to your
dancing in interesting and innovative ways taking risks we might not
take in the regular group class system. The dates for these sponsors'
groups are

Saturday, December 16
Dinner Dance:
Cleverly described by one of our students as the dance school version of the "field trip" this
is an out of studio function where we meet together to spend a night on
the town having an elegant dinner and dancing evening. Ask your
teacher for more details. The date of the dinner dance is set for
Thursday,November 30
In Conclusion...
There are lots of activities at the studio this winter and we hope that everyone will be involved in all that they can.
We are also endeavoring to keep the website updated on a constant basis
so you can always check to see what is going on or look at the latest
picture gallery from the most recent events. If you have any
pictures you would like me to post please email them to me or bring
them in to the studio and I will see about putting them on.
Remember also that the website is interactive - you can download
pictures, print calendars, post comments in the photo albums and of
course email us to say whatever is on your mind.
